Community Involvement

NORTHBORO SCHOOLS: A walk into any of Northboro’s fine schools frequently offers a sighting of a "Junior" volunteering her time. We fund various programs such as "Community Reading Day" and "TV Turn off Week". Each year we also sponsor a high school sophomore to attend MassSTAR, the MassSTAR Leadership Seminar.

ELLSWORTH-MCAFEE PARK: Years ago there was an abandoned field on Rte. 135 used to store DPW materials and in its place there is now a beautiful community park. NJWC spearheaded the park project, as well as donating the gazebo, a portion of the pavilion, much of the playground equipment, and a bench was dedicated to Paula Moore, our member whose personal commitment made the “Field of Dreams” come true for our club and our community.

NORTHBORO FREE LIBRARY: Northboro's public library has been the recipient of computer equipment, books, books on tape,  and museum passes.  Each summer NJWC sponsors the Library’s Annual Summer Reading Program.

FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS: NJWC donations have included the Jaws of Life and a CPR mannequin baby to the Northboro Fire Department, and a donation to the Police Department's Project DARE program. NJWC has worked hand in hand with these two fine organizations on many community awareness, education, and safety projects.

NORTHBORO FOOD PANTRY: An NJWC member saw a need for a food pantry in our community. Through her diligent work the Northboro Food pantry came to be. We continue to support their efforts by donations of food and staffing.

COMMUNITY NEEDS: Sometimes our community needs assistance, and we aid Northboro's Youth and Family Services Department and the District Nurses Association whenever we can. NJWC volunteers cook and serve Community Meals in Northboro on a regular basis, and sponsor an annual blood drive for the American Red Cross.

LETTERS FROM SANTA: NJWC in conjunction with the Northboro Post Office and the North Pole coordinates the annual Letters to Santa.
